1 1/3 c all-purpose flour
3/4 c light brown sugar packed
1 tbsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3/4 c butter melted
1/2 c butter room temperature
1 c sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 c all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 c sour cream or plain Greek yoghurt
To Make the Cinnamon Streusel:
Step 1: In a medium mixing bowl, add the nutmeg, flour, butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Beat until well combined.
To Make the Cake:
Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Brush with butter a 9×9-inch baking pan.
Step 3: Add the flour, cinnamon, and baking powder into a medium mixing bowl. Whisk until well combined.
Step 4: In another mixing bowl, add the butter and sugar. Beat for about 4 minutes or until creamy.
Step 5: Add the vanilla and eggs. Beat until well combined. Make sure to scrape the bottom of the bowl.
Step 6: Transfer the flour mixture and add the sour cream as well into the bowl with the egg mixture. Beat until well mixed.
Step 7: Transfer 1/2 of the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly on the bottom.
Step 8: Sprinkle 1/2 of the cinnamon streusel on top of the cake.
Step 9: Spread the other half of the batter over the streusel.
Step 10: Sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon streusel over the batter.
Step 11: Place the cake inside the preheated oven and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean after inserting it in the middle.
Step 12: Remove the cake from the oven and let it sit at room temperature to cool for a couple of minutes.
Step 13: Slice into pieces.
